COVID-19 inspired a flurry of community support in the early months, but the need is still growing as the pandemic continues. 

Another surge of cases has begun.  Hospitals are overwhelmed. More businesses are shuttering. And the mutual aid networks that have emerged during the outbreak are exhausted, both in terms of time and money. 

If you’ve remained relatively comfortable throughout the outbreak, you may be wondering what can you do to help those struggling.

This article collects some suggestions for ways you can share your donations of goods or cash towards helping those within the creative sector.

Big Table cares for those in crisis in the restaurant and hospitality industry through direct referrals from coworkers. In the current pandemic, Big Table’s care starts with $200 to $400 triage grants for critical bills or needs.

Chinatown International District (CID) Restaurants and other Small Businesses Relief Fund provides direct support for Seattle’s Chinatown International District small restaurants and businesses. is a volunteer-run resource to connect helpers and help, including a database of relief and recovery funds.

Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) provides free civil legal services to low-income King County residents including those who are experiencing legal challenges due the effects of the pandemic. ELAP helps with unexpected medical bills, evictions, unemployment and domestic violence.

Front and Centered is a coalition of over 70 community of color organizations across Washington state working on environmental health and justice issues. Front and Centered has created a rapid response fund to help our state’s most vulnerable communities.  

GSBA, Washington’s LGBTQ chamber of commerce, promotes equality through business. The GSBA is maintaining an emergency resource page for small businesses and nonprofits during the pandemic and providing technical support for loans and grants and other support.

Ingersoll Gender Center provides resources, referrals and financial assistance to transgender and gender diverse community members most affected by the COVID-19 crisis. 

Intentionalist Gift Certificate Marketplace is a platform to support small local businesses that do not have online storefronts by offering physical gift certificates.

The Plate Fund provides immediate financial assistance to those restaurant-industry workers who have been hardest hit in King County.

Save Seattle’s Small Businesses aggregates small business gift cards in the nearby cities of Redmond, Kirkland, Bellevue and Seattle. Gift cards are an important way to allow restaurants to gain revenue during the closures.

South King County & Eastside COVID/Coronavirus Mutual Aid Group has support for survivors, sick and disabled, immunocompromised, undocumented, Black, queer, indigenous and/or people of color.

Southwest Youth & Family Services Community Response Fund supports neighbors who are experiencing income loss coupled with unexpected costs for food, shelter and care during this crisis.

Ventures is a nonprofit supporting those that are not reached by traditional business development services, with a focus on women, people of color, immigrants and individuals with low incomes. Ventures is raising money to support its small business clients who have been affected by the coronavirus crisis. (

Washington Food Fund is raising money to keep food banks and pantries stocked, in cities and rural communities across our state.
